Jeremy Allen White Is Slowly Breaking Up With Shameless (And I Love That)

To be fair he isn’t the only one. His Shameless co-star Emmy Rossum announced that she’ll be leaving the hit series after the current 9th season, Cameron Monaghan apprehended on the Fox series Gotham and Emma Kenney (who plays Debbie Gallagher) already had a stint at the revived season of Roseanne.

But what about Jeremy? Well, I was rooting for him to follow their footsteps for so long. He’s an incredibly talented actor that created an amazing character in Shameless. Lip Gallagher’s story arch was made extra special by Jeremy’s commitment and talent but I’m glad that he’s breaking away from the show, even if it’s not on a permanent basis.

You’ve probably seen the trailer I presume. The trailer for Homecoming. Well, Homecoming is an upcoming psychological thriller web television series based on the podcast of the same name in which The Academy Award winner Julia Roberts has the lead. Created by Eli Horowitz and Micah Bloomberg that is set to premiere on November 2, 2018 on Amazon Video. The series was developed by Sam Esmail who is also set to direct and executive produce the series as well.

Homecoming is a “psychological thriller that centers on Heidi, a caseworker at a secret government facility, and a soldier eager to rejoin civilian life, and Jeremy is in good company there. Besides Julia in the cast, Jeremy will be starring alongside Stephan James, Bobby Cannavale, Marianne Jean-Baptiste and the Hollywood legend Sissy Spacek.

So, that’s 2 Oscar winners and a bunch of other talented actors. Sound good right? But he’ll be also joined by his Shameless co-star Dermot Mulroney, and let’s not forget that the entire show is created and directed by Sam Esmail. The same Sam Esmail that created Mr. Robot and the same Sam Esmail that is Emmy Rossum’s husband.

I really hope that Emmy recommended her on screen brother for the job, as they seem to be close on the set and of. On another note, Jeremy is doing fine in his personal life too, as he’s to become a father for a first time, but he also has 2 completed movies that are about to be released. Viena and the Fantomes and After Everything who had its world premiere at South by Southwest festival.

I’m glad that Jeremy is taking control of his career and at his personal life. I’m glad his career is going uphill and I’m also glad that he’s slowly breaking away from Shameless. The show can do so much for his growth and professional development, and let’s face it. He’s been playing the same character for 9 years now. How far can you go?

So, yeah… I’ll be seeing Homecoming too. Not just because of the fantastic cast, not because I’m a sucker for psychological thriller shows, not just because I’m a Sam Esmail fan, but because I’m fan of Jeremy. He deserves it, and I couldn’t be happier that he’s in another show.
