Expect To See A Lot Of Julia Roberts In The Next Few Months
That’s right. In your movie theaters, on the red carpet and for the first time since the 90’s even on TV.
Yup. The academy award winner is back (like she ever left) with exciting new projects that just might grab your attention by the end of this year. And not just some random stuff too. Good quality material that just might earn her some more awards (like she doesn’t have enough of those).
Let’s start with Ben Is Back. In the Peter Hedges written and directed drama, Julia apparently delivers a powerful performance that’s worthy of an Oscar nomination, and Lucas Hedges is not that bad either.
Although set with a December release date, Ben Is Back already circled the festival circuit where it was lauded and of course the performances of Julia and Lucas were praised. So, expect to see a lot of Julia on the red carpet in almost every major award ceremony from now until the Oscars. Yeah, the lady is not messing around.
And as for the TV efforts I’ve just mentioned? Well, she’s also starring in her own TV show. Homecoming is an upcoming psychological thriller series developed and directed by Sam Esmail. Based on the podcast of the same name created by Eli Horowitz and Micah Bloomberg,
Homecoming is s a “psychological thriller that centers on Heidi, a caseworker at a secret government facility, and a soldier eager to rejoin civilian life. And I for one can’t wait for it to air next month.
Why? Well, besides the fact that Julia is in the lead role, the supporting cast is not too shabby either. There’s the marvelous Sissy Spacek, Bobby Cannavale, Dermot Mulroney and the Shameless star Jeremy Alan White.
So, in conclusion… Two vastly different projects, on two very different mediums and both of them could potentially bring her critical acclaim and plenty of awards? Yeah, it’s going to be a great winter for Julia. Which is great. I’ve been a fan of hers since I saw her in Mystic Pizza and I can’t wait for these two projects of hers.
