Assembling The Avengers at The Oscars Could Work

The Academy is contemplating not having a host for the upcoming Oscar ceremony, and is apparently turning to Marvel for a bit of help. Or should i say… the Avengers.

According to a new report from THR, the people behind the Oscars telecast are doing their best to secure an on-stage reunion for the cast of the mega-blockbuster Avengers: Infinity War.

However, Avengers: Endgame is due to be released exactly one month after the Oscar ceremony and I think that it would be a win-win situation for both of them. For the Academy and for Marvel. Bear with me.

While the number of actors from the MCU and their potential host-like roles at the Oscars are a closely guarded secret at this point, it’s a good move if this happens. It could work. Why? Because without a host, the Academy would be much shorter and efficient, but with the cast of the Avengers Endgame in the Academy’s roaster, it could mean that the younger generation could actually watch the February 25th ceremony.

The Academy Award’s ratings are in free fall for years now, and the Academy itself is in a desperate mood. Sure they want to get the ratings up, but almost none other than Kevin Hart wants to be the Oscar host. Unfortunately Hart is not an option anymore, so why not lean on the most recognizable actors on the planet to do the job?

Let’s face it… Since 2008 there has been 20 different movies from the MCU and come March Marvel is about to present another great character to the public. Captain Marvel in the movie of the same name.

So if at least 10 of the actors set foot on the stage at the Kodak Theater to present an award, it would be a win for Marvel and for the Academy. For Marvel because it would be a great opportunity to present the Avengers Endgame movie, and for The Academy because it would have an instantly recognizable face even for a brief moment. Why go with Rita Moreno or Alan Arkin when you can have Chris Pratt, Robert Downey Jr or Lee Pace? Oh and about the female part of the MCU? Brie Larson, Zoe Saldana and Scarlett Johansson are always a good idea.

According to IMDB the first 2 movies from the top 10 list of the most anticipated movies for 2019 are a Marvel Movies. Captain Marvel is on number 1 spot, while Endgame is on number 2. Not to mention the fact that there is high possibility for Black Panther to get a shit ton of Oscar nominations next week, including a nod for Best Motion Picture of the year.

So heck yeah, it would be a great idea. Heck yeah it could work. And not just for the Academy. The Oscars may do fine without a host, but I don’t think they can afford to be without the biggest blockbuster heroes of today.
