The women of MI6 are here and they are awesome
Mission: Impossible 6, the latest installment of the MI franchise and the second in a row directed by Christopher McQuarrie is at the middle of production.
And as the production progresses, McQuarrie reveals some new details on his Twitter account, and the fans are grateful to be honest. After adding Henry Cavill, as Tom Cruise’s co-star in the latest movie, McQuarrie added 3 new female actress to the cast, making it a female presence of total of 5 ladies in the movie.
Michelle Monaghan returns as Julia Meade-Hunt, Ethan’s wife (which ponders the question whether the 6th movie will explore Ethan’s marriage even further), and the fans will be delighted by the return of the Swedish actress Rebecca Ferguson in the role of Ilsa Faust. Ferguson made a huge impression in the previous movie Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation, and was lauded as a breath of fresh air, in the male dominated and testosterone driven male cast.
She was absolutely bad ass in the fight scenes, action sequences, acting, general sex appeal and on screen chemistry with the star of the franchise Tom Cruise. Ferguson quickly became a fan favorite, and her return was greeted with lots of cheers among the fans. She’s everything that Ethan Hunt is but with a pair of heels and boobs. Bold, sexy, fearless and bad ass. No woman before that embodied those qualities. Sure the others were gorgeous and sexy, but not equal on physical and intellectual level.
However, Mission Impossible has 3 brand new actresses, and while the first photo of them, doesn’t say much about their characters, we at least get to see at least who they are. Angela Bassett, Vanessa Kirby, and Sian Brooke are the latest additions to the already stellar cast. Kirby is the youngest of the new actresses, while Bassett is the oldest and most experienced. Not only that, she’s also an Academy Award nominated actress, a Yale graduate and one of the most respected actresses in Hollywood with successful career on screen and on TV.
Mission Impossible 6 also makes the movie of with the most female characters to date (total of 5), and while there were memorable female roles (Thandie Newton as Nyah Nordoff-Hall first comes to mind), most of the characters leading to Rogue Nation were pretty forgettable.
Some has already called this 6th installment, as the most sexy and gorgeous (mostly by the presence of Cavill, Cruise, Ferguson) but I thing with the return of Christopher McQuarrie as writer/director Mission Impossible 6 swill be another thrilling action packed master piece from the franchise.
Mission Impossible 6 opens on July 27, 2018.
