The Disaster Artist trailer: James Franco is making the worst movie ever

Tommy Wiseau’s The Room is probably known as „ the worst movie ever“, but that didn’t stop the 2003 independent movie to become a cult classic.

14 years after the release of the movie, James Franco presents his latest directorial work The Disaster Artist, (inspired by The Room) and he’s not just behind the camera, he’s also right in front of her.

The Disaster Artist depicts the meeting and early friendship of the actor Greg Sestero and Tommy Wiseau, the actor, writer and director behind the 2003 cult film The Room. A film often hailed as the Citizen Kane of bad movies, the troubled making of it and their respective careers after the surprising success of the film. Franco stars as Tommy Wiseau, while James’s younger brother is playing Greg Sestero, the line producer and actor who portrays “Mark” in The Room.

Josh Hutcherson, Zac Efron, Jacki Weaver, Alison Brie, Sharon Stone, Melanie Griffith, Megan Mullally, Judd Apatow are also part of the cast. Celebrity cameos include Bryan Cranston, Zach Braff, J. J. Abrams, David DeCoteau, Lizzy Caplan, Kristen Bell, Keegan-Michael Key, Adam Scott, Danny McBride and Tommy Wiseau himself.

Written by Scott Neustadter and Michael H. Weber, the movie is based on The Disaster Artist book by Greg Sestero /Tom Bissell, and produced by Franco, Evan Goldberg, Seth Rogen and James Weaver.

The Disaster Artist opens on 1 December, and this is the first trailer.
