High Five Christopher Nolan!
Seriously! High Five Christopher Nolan! You’ve probably heard the news. One of the finest directors of our time, Christopher Nolan just started the production of his latest movie.
The currently untitled movie is set for release in 2020, and so far only 3 actors were confirmed in the cast. John David Washington, Robert Pattison, and Elizabeth Debicki. This will be Nolan’s 11th feature film, but first after a period of 15 years that won’t involve his longtime collaborator Lee Smith. He was unavailable because he was already hired to edit Sam Mendes’s latest movie 1917, but I applaud Nolan for picking a woman for the job. I really do.
Yes, Nolan opted to hire Jennifer Lame, the editor behind movies like Manchester By The Sea and Hereditary and I’m all for that.
It’s always nice to have a man that’s willing to hire a woman in a job that’s been dominated by men. Film editing is highly competitive and there are few ladies that are actually in the business, so it’s good that not only they’re employed by the finest directors, they’re also appreciated.
High five dude! Keep up the good work. I haven’t had the chance to catch hereditary, but I did enjoy some of Jennifer’s previous work, most notably Manchester By The Sea and Frances Ha.
She’s a fine young editor with only a decade under the belt inexperience but I’m sure that will do the movie justice and will justify the trust that Nolan has in her.
