Guys…. Meet the new Terminator!
You’ve probably heard the news. There is a new Terminator in town. Director Tim Miller and James Cameron have cast Gabriel Luna in the title role of the sixth “Terminator” sequel, according to Deadline.
The Untitled Terminator film will serve as a direct sequel to The Terminator and Terminator 2: Judgment Day, while disregarding the subsequent films and the television series Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles as non-canonical. The original Terminator Arnold Schwarzenegger, Linda Hamilton, Diego Boneta, Natalia Reyes and Mackenzie Davis are also in the cast, while Billy Ray will pen the script.
But who is Gabriel Luna? Well, Born and raised in Austin, Texas, by a single mother, Luna is from Mexican descent. He made his stage debut in college where he played Romeo Montague in a production of William Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, and hot his start in Hollywood with the role of Kristofer Rostropovich in 2005’s Fall to Grace.
Luna also had a small role in Richard Linklater’s Bernie back in 2011 (alongside Jack Black), and the 206’s Transpecos was met with positive reviews. However, up until now, he’s best known for portraying Robbie Reyes / Ghost Rider in a 9 episode arch of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. He was nominated for Choice TV: Action Actor at the 2017 Teen Choice Awards for his role as Ghost Rider.
The 6’ tall actor is 2 years younger than Arnold when he first portrayed the role of Terminator / T-800 Model 101 back in 1984 ,and is slightly shorter than Arnold, who is 6’2’’. Luna is also married to the Romanian actress Smaranda Luna (née Ciceu) since 2011, and they both reside in LA.
Paramount has already set a November 22, 2019 release date for the film, but for now…. Tell me… what do you think of Luna as the new Terminator? Is it a good choice or a bad one?
