David Oyelowo is looking for weed pills in Mexico

Charlize Theron didn’t have much luck this year with Atomic Blonde, but here’s hoping that 2018 will be better with Gringo. Directed by Nash Edgerton, the action comedy has David Oyelowo on the hunt for some medicinal marijuana pills, but the drug cartels will interfere with his quest.

Official synopsis for Gringo (courtesy of Amazon Studios):

An exhilarating mix of dark comedy, white-knuckle action and dramatic intrigue, Gringo joyrides into Mexico, where mild-mannered businessman Harold Soyinka (David Oyelowo) finds himself at the mercy of his back-stabbing business colleagues back home, local drug lords and a morally conflicted black-ops mercenary. Crossing the line from law-abiding citizen to wanted criminal, Harold battles to survive his increasingly dangerous situation in ways that raise the question: Is he out of his depth – or two steps ahead?

Theron, Amanda Seyfried, and Joel Edgerton are also part of the cast of Gringo, but Charlize Theron and Amanda Seyfried previously starred alongside each other in A Million Ways to Die in the West (2014). This will also be the movie in which Paris Jackson, Michael’s Jackson’s daughter will make her screen debut.

Gringo opens on March 9th 2018, but until then check out the red band trailer.
