Negasonic Teenage Warhead and Yukio are the cutest thing in Deadpool 2
All, tight now, Let’s tak Deadpool 2, but most importantly let’s talk about two awesome characters in Deadpool 2. No, not Russel and Domino, although they are brand new and bad-ass. No, i’m here to talk (OK write) about Negasonic Teenage Warhead and Yukio.
Early in the sequel, we are presented with Yukio (played by Rila Fukushima), fellow X-Men mutant and girlfriend of Negasonic (played by Brianna Hildebrand). Sure, Wayde makes some hilarious comments about Negasonic, but Yukio and Deadpool are instant BFF in the sequel, and my heart melted at that point.
Yup, This part weekend, I actually went out and saw the film for a second consecutive time and each time I had I huge smile on my face. How adorable were they? They were like mutant version of Ying and Yang. One is reserved, quiet and tough and the other one is sweet, friendly and colorful not just in her character but also in her appearance.
This was also the first openly LGBTQ relationship depicted in a Marvel film, and it’s a major step in the right direction after the introduction of Valkyrie (played by Tessa Thompson) in last year’s Thor Ragnarok.
Although I wasn’t particularly happy with the limited screen time of the two characters in Deadpool 2 ( i wanted mooooore), I’m hoping that their relationship will be more presented and developed in the third Deadpool film. I just need more of Negasonic and Yukio, since they’re soooo great together on screen.
