Christian Bale is currently busy transforming himself into the ex vice president Dick Chaney, but for the end of the year he’ll be bringing the Western genre into the theaters.

Hostiles is his latest project, and he already received fantastic reviews from the early festival circuit, which makes him an early Oscar candidate. He plays Joseph J. Blocker in Scott Cooper’s latest directorial work. An army captain who agrees to escort a dying Cheyenne war chief and his family back to his tribal lands in the year 1892.

Rosamund Pike plays Rosalie Quaid, a suicidal widow who undertakes the harrowing and perilous journey after the murder of her family on the plains by Comanche Indians and Wes Studi, Q’orianka Kilcher, Ben Foster, Jesse Plemons and Timothée Chalamet are also in the cast.

Hostiles held its world premiere on September 2, 2017 in Telluride. It is scheduled to be released on December 22, 2017, by Entertainment Studios.
