Trailers need time! Good trailers need even more time!

You’ve probably heard the news. Aquaman’s director James Wan addresses some of the rumors that has been going on lately about the upcoming release of the Aquaman trailer. Wan took to Twitter to clarify the reasons why Aquaman doesn’t have a teaser just yet, and it’s not because he feels like it.

It’s because the trailer is not ready yet. Yes that’s right. Aqaman is set to be released on December 21st, and there is not even a hint on when the first teaser will be released on line. Reason? Well, even the making of the trailer takes time. To which I say… Good! Take all the time in the world James!.

He’s right you know. You cannot fork up any substandard teaser and call it a day. Even if that trailer is for a film from the DC Cinematic Universe.

I am simply not ready yet to share. This movie is filled to the gills with VFX, and the process is as slow and laborious as a sea-slug! Yes, even shots for the trailers take forever to do, and I refuse to put out anything that might be construed as subpar. Wrote Wan on Twitter yesterday.

This statement from the director confirmed a couple of things regarding the movie. Like its predecessors (Justice League for instance) Aquaman will be filled to the gills with VFX. Frankly I’m not looking forward to it (after seeing Zach Snyder’s mess), but there is a part of me that’s optimistic that it won’t look so fake.

Yes, even shots for the trailers take forever to do! Here I’ve been telling people about this for soooo long. Do you have any idea how much time, and effort it takes to make a decent movie trailer these days? There are some rules to abbey when making the trailer and DC knows it. Have you noticed that some shots that were in the trailers don’t even end up in the final cut of the movie? Hell.. Superman’s entire costume wasn’t in the Justice League, and frankly I don’t know who to blame for that.

But Wan confirmed something we all fan-boys and girls just like to ignore. Trailers take time to be made. And good trailers even more.

Aquaman stars Jason Momoa stars as the title character, with Amber Heard, Patrick Wilson, Willem Dafoe, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Temuera Morrison, Dolph Lundgren and Nicole Kidman in supporting roles. It is the third live-action theatrical film featuring the title character, following Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016) and Justice League (2017), and will be the first full-length feature film centered around the character.
