Oh Shia LaBeouf. I’ve missed you boy!. Well, you’ve probably seen the photos of Shia LaBeouf on the set of his latest movie, Honey Boy. Yup. The production for the drama that himself wrote is very much underway in LA, but the actors now sports a very different look. A much older looking look.

Longer hair with receding hairline, 90’s glasses and construction worker uniform for the controversial actor in his latest film. Well, that’s because apparently he’s playing his own father in the Alma Har’el directed semi-autobiographical drama.

Lucas Hedges, Noah Jupe, Maika Monroe, Natasha Lyone, Martin Starr and Clifton Collins Jr make the rest of the cast, but there is no word on the release date for the film.
However, this is a great time for a quick reminder about the previous film projects in which stars have portrayed their own parents on the silver screen.

Christopher Wallace, Jr. as young Notorious B.I.G in Notorious (2009)

Director: George Tillman Jr.
Fun fact about the movie: The original choice to play Biggie was S.G. aka Surgeon General, a dj/producer from East Orange, NJ. He was chosen from 400 hopefuls in an online campaign to find an unknown to portray Biggie; which was supposed to become a VH1 special. At 6 foot 4, 400 lbs; SG physically embodied B.I.G. & encapsulated the essence of the Brooklyn emcee– down to the lisp. However after a comment was made by Jamal Mallard, that “Brooklyn would be mad if I don’t get the role”, producers seemed unsure which direction to go. Ultimately it was left up to Voletta Wallace to choose which actor got the role. She chose Mallard, stating that his smile reminded her of her son.

Melissa Rivers as Joan Rivers in Joy (2015)

Director: David O. Russell
Fun fact about the movie: Joan Rivers is portrayed in this film by her real-life daughter Melissa Rivers. Director David O. Russell asked Melissa for input on dialogue written for her mother, particularly in the scene where she gives Joy clothing feedback.

O’Shea Jackson, Jr. as Ice Cube in Straight Outta Compton (2015)
