Shazam! Is Still Keeping Things Light
I don’t know about you but I was pretty impressed with the first Shazam! trailer. It was fun, it had a killer trailer song (Kendrick Lamar’s Humble) and it promised a nice shift in tone for the DC Cinematic Universe. From doom and gloom to a more lighthearted and fun superhero movie.
And boy did they keep up with that tone in the last trailer. Yup. The Final Shazam! trailer was released yesterday, and I must say that I’m pleasantly surprised yet again. The trailer comes exactly one month before the release of the movie and it didn’t disappoint.
Seriously. There was some new footage in the last trailer, some new scenes, there was a little more emphasis on the villain Dr. Thaddeus Sivana (Mark Strong) and we get to see a whole lot more of Billy Batson… pardon me Shazam (Zachary Levi).
Oh and everything was wrapped up with the presence of Slim Shady (a modern version of Eminem’s classic). I loved that the trailer maintained the light, humorous and friendly approach even in the last trailer, which indicates that the entire movie will be a deviation from the usual CGI heavy dark and morose movies that the DC Cinematic Universe is known for. So, yeah.
I’m in. Was planning to go and see the movie just because Zachary and Mark (love them both) but I might actually love the movie because of the movie.
Shazam! is directed by David F. Sandberg and besides Zachary and Mark, Jack Dylan Grazer, and Djimon Hounsou are in the supporting characters as well.
Shazam! opens on April 5th.
