Hellboy Trailer: Chill Out People It’s Just The First Trailer
You’ve probably seen it. The first official trailer for the upcoming Hellboy remake. Yeah, that one.
Hellboy will fight monsters once again next year, but this time in a rebooted movie, with a different actor playing the red demon, different cast and different director behind the camera. David Harbour now embodies Hellboy in the upcoming movie, with Mila Jovovich, Daniel Dae Kim, Saha Lane, Brian Gleeson and Ian McShane in the supporting cast.
The trailer for the April 12 release of Hellboy dropped yesterday and I must say it was fun to watch. Yes, I’m aware that it’s just a first promo material, but a lot was shown for the first 2 and a half minutes. We got to see the new characters, the new villain, and some of the plot. Fractions of the plot but still. However, the general consensus is not pleased with this trailer, and all I can say to them is oh…. come on!. Give it a shot.
Look, I know that the majority of the critiques are focused on the comparisons with the previous 2 movies (directed by Guillermo del Toro) and the majority of the complains were directed at Harbour himself.
-He’s not Ron Perlman! Bring Ron Perlman back!.
Of course, he’s not you idiots. He’s a different actor. He’s got different set of skills, and he’s been prepping to portray Hellboy in a very different way than Ron Perlman.
The teaser showed us a lighthearted and fun trailer, and it wasn’t bad actually. Trust me. There were a lot of bad trailers over the course of this year (I’m looking at you Captain Marvel) but this wasn’t it.
A lot of the comments were directed at the comedic tone of the trailer and again… It’s not a bad idea. Humor will get you far my friends, and Thor Ragnarok is living proof of that. Now, I’m not certain that Hellboy will try and emulate the Ragnarok humor, but judging from the trailer, yeah the humor will play a major role here.
Look. For all of you that are concerned that will tarnish the legacy of the comic book, i don’t think you should be. Naive as i may seem ( and i know that i sound naive) Mike Mignola is one of the credited screenwriters, and i think that he’ll do the right thing. It’s his baby after all.
And as for the reboot being nothing like Guillermo’s movies… Well fucking DAAA. It’s a fucking reboot! It’s not supposed to be the same. I’m not Nostradamus and know months ahead if this movie will be a critical and commercial success, but i know that we should give it a shot. And this is a good trailer!.
Hellboy is scheduled to be released on April 12, 2019.
