Go Roger Go!
Well, one thing is for sure. I know who I’m rooting for on March 4th. Yeah, I want Gary Oldman and Frances McDormand to pick up their Oscars in the leading acting categories, but I’ll be on the edge of my seat when this particular category comes along.
Best cinematography. Yup… One of the most creative and awesome categories in the entire event, and there is one familiar face in this year’s ceremony. The one and only Roger Deakins.
Well if you thought Leo Dicaprio had a bad streak of losing at the Oscar, you should check out Mr. Deakins. Yup, the legendary DP received his 14th Oscar nomination and I have a feeling that 2018 will be the year of Roger Deakins.
Why? Because he’s a true maestro, a God, a freaking rock-star at what he does, it’s insane and not to mention that he’s been nominated for the work on one of my favorite movies of 2017. Blade Runner 2049.
Think about it. Since his first Academy award nomination in 1995 for The Shawshank Redemption and right up until now, he’s been dubbed the biggest loser at the Oscars, but I don’t like to think of it. I’d love to think that he made one of the best images that have ever been seen at the movies, and collaborated with the greats in this business. The Oscar is just a statue and clearly he doesn’t care that he doesn’t have one.
Really. He’s not even bothered by the 13 previous Oscar losses… And and as for his chances on March 4th?
Well Go Roger Go!
