Dark Phoenix: Magneto’s Face Represents Everyone’s Overall Exhaustion

Dark Phoenix’s release is scheduled for this summer, unleeeeess it’s pushed further again (and again) like God knows how many times before. But for now, another official photo of the movie was released for the fans.

It shows the beaten, bruised and tired Magneto (Michael Fassbender) being rolled in a wheelchair by the Beast (Nicholas Hoult). Four other members of the X-Me are behind them, and they’re not looking happy either to be honest.

But looking at this photo, I think that it best represents the entire feel about the Dark Phoenix movie. Both with the fans and with the cast it’s a photo that says a lot. You know that a photo is worth 1000 words? Well, this is worth so much more.

I think if fits appropriately in the overall tension, exhaustion and confusion brought on from the constant delays, bad press, re-shoots and the prominent pushing the premiere further and further in the future. Dark Phoenix should have been released in the summer of 2018, but it was set for a release in the summer of 2019, some days after the official trailer was released. I mean WTF?

That caused many head-scratching among the fans, but the word of the mouth still to this day is that is a chaos of a movie that will fail spectacularly at the box office. Just like in Magneto’s case, we’re all beaten up, tired and exhausted about the Dark Phoenix, and come this summer, it better be the best god damn X-Men movie to make up for the fact that the producers and the rest of the team were toying with us.

Dark Phoenix is written and directed by Simon Kinberg, and stars James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult, Sophie Turner, Tye Sheridan, Alexandra Shipp, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Evan Peters, and Jessica Chastain. It opens on June 7th 2019.
